What is the Far From Home Report?
This report is for local officials, legislators, housing agencies, interested community members, partners, and low-income tenants across Massachusetts. It proposes policy solutions to help overcome systemic discrimination against applicants who have had contact with the justice system and mitigate the ripple effects of lack of housing opportunity.

Allow individuals on parole or probation access to
subsidized housing.
Implement policies to support reunification of families
in subsidized housing.
Reduce the CORI “lookback” period for applicants to less
than three years in most cases.
Develop new background screening policies for
subsidized housing applicants.
Create Pilot Programs that set aside a number of units
for justice-involved families.
